About Comet Pop: Space Bubble Shooter
Comet Pop is our own space bubble shooter. Robo, a little robot astronaut, floats at the bottom of the board holding the next planet, and a wall of coloured planets hangs from the top. Aim, let go, and the planet flies, bounces off the side walls and sticks where it lands. Touch three or more of the same colour and they pop. Anything left hanging with nothing holding it up falls, and falling planets are worth double.
What makes it different is the moves. There is no line to defend and no timer. Instead, a whole run shares one supply of moves, and every shot spends one. Knock six or more planets loose in a single shot and you win a move back; knock twelve loose and you win two. Clearing a level hands you a pile of new moves, more if you still had plenty left, and then the next level starts. The run ends when the moves run out, so every shot is a small decision: take the safe pop, or set up the shot that brings half the board down.
Every level is generated, and each one is two rows taller than the last, so a run never plays the same board twice. Tall boards scroll, keeping the lowest planets in view. New things turn up as you climb. Laser stars clear their whole column when they pop. Ice planets crack when something pops or lands next to them, and thaw the second time. Meteors never pop, so you have to drop them. Black holes swallow everything around them, and lasers and black holes can set each other off.
Pops fill an energy bar that hands out free boosts: a solar flare that thaws every ice planet, a laser cannon whose next shot burns straight through everything in its path, and a rainbow star that becomes whichever colour makes the biggest match. Every colour also carries its own symbol, so you can play by shape if some colours are hard to tell apart.
The daily challenge gives everyone the same planets for the day, with boosts from the energy bar only, so the best score is down to aim. If you prefer a board that fights back from the top, try Tiger Pop, our other bubble shooter, where a new row pushes down when you miss. Comet Pop is free to play in your browser with no download or sign-up, and it plays with a mouse or by touch.

How to Play
- Tap Play. Robo holds the planet you will shoot; the small one on the right comes next.
- Drag to aim and let go to shoot. On a computer, move the mouse to aim and click. The dotted line shows the path, including bounces off the walls, and where the planet will stick.
- Touch three or more planets of the same colour to pop them. Planets left hanging fall for double points.
- Tap Robo's planet to swap it with the next one.
- Every shot costs a move. Knock six or more loose in one shot to win a move back, and clear the level for a pile of new moves.
- Fill the energy bar by popping and use the boosts at the bottom of the screen: solar flare, laser cannon and rainbow star.
Tips
- Aim for the planets holding up a big cluster, not the cluster itself. Dropping six or more pays you back a move.
- Pop laser stars early. Clearing a whole column often leaves a lot of the board hanging.
- Crack ice by landing next to it when you have no good match. Even a quiet shot makes progress there.
- Don't try to pop meteors. Clear what holds them up and they fall with everything else.
- Save the laser cannon for a tall board. One straight shot up the middle can drop half a level.
FAQ
- Is Comet Pop free?
- Yes. It is free to play in any modern browser, with no download and no sign-up.
- When does a run end?
- When you run out of moves. Every shot spends one; big drops and cleared levels give moves back. There is no line the planets can cross and no time limit.
- What do the special planets do?
- A laser star clears its whole column when it pops. Ice planets crack when something pops or lands next to them, and thaw the second time. Meteors never pop and have to be dropped. A black hole swallows everything around it when something pops or lands next to it.
- How do I get boosts?
- Every run starts with one solar flare, one laser cannon and one rainbow star, and the energy bar gives you another random one each time it fills up as you pop and drop planets.
- What is the daily challenge?
- A run on the same planets for everyone that day, with boosts from the energy bar only. It changes at midnight, and your best score for the day is kept.
- Can I play it on a phone?
- Yes. It is made for touch and fits a phone held upright. Drag to aim and lift your finger to shoot.
