About Tile Trio
Tile Trio is our own triple tile matching puzzle. Tiles lie in overlapping layers on the board. Tap a tile with nothing on top of it and it drops into a tray of seven, right next to any tiles of the same kind. Three alike in the tray clear away. Clear every tile from the board to win, but if the tray fills with seven tiles and no three of a kind, the level is lost.
Covered tiles are shaded, yet their faces stay visible, so you can see what each tap will uncover and plan a few moves ahead. Upper layers sit half a tile off or square on top of the tiles below, and each layer is drawn a little higher so stacks are easy to read. The 24 faces, from apples and lemons to keys, bells and ladybugs, each have their own colour and outline, so they stay easy to tell apart on a small phone screen. When six tiles sit in the tray, its frame pulses red as a warning.
There are 300 levels, all built by the game's own generator, and a solver checks that every one can be won without helpers. Level 1 is a nine-tile warm-up. From there the boards grow to 144 tiles, up to 20 kinds of tile and seven layers, in shapes such as diamonds, rings, hearts and hourglasses, with a smaller breather every fifth level. Cleared levels stay open in the level list with your best time, so you can replay any of them.
Each day also brings a daily level of 99 to 120 tiles, the same for everyone. Clear it each day to build a streak. Retries are free, and progress is saved after every tap, so you can leave and come back later. The clock stops while the game is paused or covered by a menu. Four helpers cost gems: Undo puts the last tile back while it is still in the tray, Shuffle deals out the faces on the board again, Pop out moves three tray tiles to a small shelf, and Continue sends the tray back to the board once after a loss.
Only the daily level scores for the leaderboard, the first time you clear it: a faster clear scores more, up to double. Tile Trio is free to play in your browser with no download or sign-up, and its tile art, sound effects and music are all made for the game.

How to Play
- Pick today's daily level or the next level on the ladder.
- Tap a tile with nothing on top of it. It drops into the tray next to the tiles of its kind.
- Three alike in the tray clear away and the tray closes up.
- The tray holds seven. If it fills without making three, the level is lost.
- Shaded tiles are covered, but their faces show what you will uncover next.
- Clear every tile on the board to win. Clear the daily level to post your score.
Tips
- Before you tap, look for a kind with three tiles free at once. Taking all three is a safe clear.
- With two of a kind in the tray, hunt for the third before you start a new kind.
- Clear the top layers early. Every tile you lift opens more choices underneath.
- Read the shaded faces before you tap. A tile that uncovers the third of a pair already in the tray is the better pick.
- With six tiles in the tray, only a tile that makes three is safe. Stop and look before the next tap.
FAQ
- Is Tile Trio free?
- Yes. It is free to play in any modern browser, with no download and no sign-up.
- What is the daily level?
- One level of 99 to 120 tiles, the same for everyone that day. It changes at midnight UTC, and clearing it each day builds your streak. A cleared daily level can't be played again for a second score.
- Can every level be won?
- Yes. A solver checks every level, and each one can be cleared without any helpers. Retries are free and unlimited.
- How is the score worked out?
- Only the daily level scores, once, when you first clear it. A clear at or over the par time of 3 seconds per tile is worth 5,000, and a faster one up to 10,000. A retry keeps the clock running.
- Do the helpers cost gems?
- Yes. Undo, Shuffle, Pop out and Continue are all paid helpers that cost gems. You never need them: every level can be won without them.
- Why isn't undo free?
- Because the whole puzzle is choosing which tiles to commit to a tray you can't empty. A free undo would let you test every tap and take it back, so here it counts as a helper.
